Reviewing my notes from October’s Lean Construction Institute Annual Congress I came across the following point Steven Spear made during his breakout session that ought to be printed and fastened above the door leaving every enterprise facility.
“Performance results from out-learning others.”
Steve’s statement is perhaps less elegant than “Play like a champion today” yet it provides more clarity on what it means to play like a champion. Steve’s point is that enterprises compete on learning speed and that champions are those that learn faster than their competitors. For most enterprises this invites an interesting problem well worth solving. How do we measure learning speed, and how do we improve it?
